Halogen Light Bulbs
Most Popular Halogen Lamps and Halogen Light Bulbs
Halogen light bulbs are used for all sorts of purposes in today's lighting trends. Outdoor lights, ceiling lights and wall lights are just a few examples. The most popular choices are GU10 spot lamps and G9 capsule bulbs. R7 type halogen lamps are used in flood lights and some wall lights. Low voltage 12v versions like the GU5.3 spot and the G4 capsule are also available from our vast range of stock.
Halogen lamps do give off a fantastic amount of light with a warm colour and you can create all sorts of different lighting effects around the home. All halogen lamps are dimmable but care needs to be taken when handling them and it's worth noting that you'll need to use a dimmable transformer and suitable low voltage dimmer switch if you are planning to dim low voltage halogen.
It's vital that none of the glass is touched by human hands. This is because of the natural oils that you leave on the glass, this will cause the bulb to overheat, and this can seriously affect the life span of the bulb. Halogen Bulbs should ideally be handled with the small plastic bags that they are often supplied in (inside the box) or failing that, you can use kitchen towel, on the non-printed side. Should you accidentally handle the glass then a mildly firm wipe over with kitchen towel should be sufficient to remove the residue. As will all bulbs, please ensure the bulb is completely cooled down before you handle them at all.
