Before you buy…

To find the perfect lampshade, first, measure your base. The shade should be around twice the width of the base and around a third of the total height. For example, if you have a 5-inch base, your new shade should be at least 10 inches wide.

Remember, the choice of material can also have an impact on the illumination produced – making the light brighter or dimmer and changing its colour and direction. For example, frosted glass will dim the light slightly, while a clear glass table lampshade will offer brighter, unfiltered light. Some homeowners even like to opt for a red lampshade, bringing a warming red glow to a room.
