The confusion regarding lamp holders can now be cleared up
Once you've taken in the information a little you will start to see patterns in the common names and the naming convention will start to make a lot more sense, if it didn't already.
For example, take a look at the lamp holders that start with a single letter E, this is in reference to the Edison screw fitting, named after Thomas Edison, who is widely documented as the inventor of the practical electric light bulb. Following the E is a number, this is in reference to the width of the cap in millimetres. So, an E12 is an Edison Screw fitting that is 12mm in diameter, leading to an E14 which is an Edison Screw fitting that is 14mm in diameter and so on. You can see the same pattern for the bayonet fittings with the single letter B being in reference to the word Bayonet.
