Fluorescent Light Bulbs

Fluorescent Light Bulbs

Fluorescent light bulbs are used for all sorts of purposes in and around the home. Compact fluorescents can be used in all sorts of light sources that have either a BC (bayonet cap) fitting or an ES (large Edison screw) fitting. We even have them in SBC (small bayonet cap) and SES (small Edison screw) caps too. These would normal go in table lamps, floor lamps, ceiling lights and outdoor lanterns.

They were the original low energy bulb that would in time replace the incandescent light bulb. They are very cost effective to run and can last up to eight times longer then a normal conventional light bulb. The Lighting Superstore also stock some types of T4 and T5 tubes. These are normally used in under kitchen units, bathroom mirrors, and other various display cabinets. We also stock 2d fluorescent lamps which are used in kitchen and bathroom ceiling lights. When choosing your fluorescent lamp, always make sure you have the correct lighting output that you need.

Wattage is the measure of the energy consumption and lumens is the measure of the light output. Low energy lamps also come in a choice of colour temperatures. This is measured in kelvin, the higher the kelvin the more white it is. For example 2700k is a normally referred to as warm white and 4000k would be referred to as cool white. We stock fluorescent lamps as high as 6400k which is known as daylight.

Fluorescent lamps are not allowed by law to be disposed of in general house-hold waste. Always use a local recycling center or a licensed waste disposal company to dispose of them for you.
