Recessed Spotlights and Downlights - Page 3

Recessed downlights are still a popular option with a seemingly endless range of styles to choose from. An ever increasing number of downlights tend to have an LED light source, the benefits of which are improved energy efficiency, much longer lifespan and a wide choice of colour temperatures such as warm white, cool white and even daylight. The choice of colour temperature tends to depend on the application, kitchens and bathrooms often look better with cool or daylight colours, whereas bedrooms and dining rooms often benefit from a warm white.

Another aspect to consider is direction control, a number of designs allow for adjustment of the direction to which the spotlight bulbs point, thus enabling you to perfectly locate the pool of light in the desired area.

Recessed downlights

Recessed downlights – also known as ceiling spotlights – are a popular option for every room in the home, due to the range of styles, colours and sizes available. They are especially suited to low ceilings and are commonly found in kitchens, where they can be used as both general ambient lighting or task lighting for cooking and food preparation areas.

Choose from a range of spotlights, including standard recessed models that fit flush to the ceiling for a space-saving solution, as well as retractable swivel downlights designed to angle the light exactly where you need it. Many of our models also come as doubles or triples for greater light coverage.

Deciding how many spotlights you need for a room can be tricky. It all depends on the layout and natural light availability. Luckily, The Lighting Superstore is here to help – get in touch with our team today for help designing your perfect lighting set-up for any room in the home.

Long-lasting LED light

Many of our ceiling spotlights come with an LED light source – offering improved energy efficiency, a longer lifespan and a wide choice of colour temperatures compared with traditional bulbs. And LED retrofit lamps are also available for our non-LED spotlights.

The choice of colour temperatures available in LED lights – including warm white, cool white and even daylight – tends to depend on the application. Kitchens and bathrooms often look better with cool or daylight colours, whereas bedrooms and dining rooms often benefit from a warm white.

Fitting mains voltage and LED recessed downlights

To fit recessed downlights, holes will have to be cut into the ceiling for the spotlight to fit into. They are spring loaded which keeps them in place securely once installed. The lights are also normally wired in via a loop system or connected to a junction box to be controlled by a 1 or 2-gang switch, or a dimmer switch.

Our products come with long warranties and are designed to last tens of thousands of hours, for complete peace of mind and value for money.
